Year End Giving

Year End

This holiday season, we thank everyone who has supported CityView Church of Pearland this past year with their time, talent and financial contributions and look forward to your continued support in 2018.

As a matter of update, at this time we are approximately $5,000 ahead of budget in our General Fund giving for the fiscal year (October 1, 2017 – September 30, 2018).  We have purchased 5 acres of land on Manvel Rd just north of Bailey.  We have also had the tremendous blessing of eclipsing our Christmas Offering Goal of $25,000.  We hit $30,500 so far!   Praise the Lord!

Often there is confusion related to contributions made around the end of the calendar year. I hope the information below is helpful.

  • Tax-deductible contributions (“contributions”) must be claimed in the year they are delivered to CityView Church.
  • If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings or if you plan to make an additional gift before the end of the year, we encourage you to look into our electronic giving options. As the pace of life speeds up, especially around the holidays, you may find electronic giving a most welcome way to make contributions. Visit CityView Church Offices or contact the church at 281.607.9323 for more information.  Online contributions ( can be made at any time PRIOR to January 1, 2018 and will be included in your 2017 contribution statement.
  • Contributions mailed (postmarked) on or before December 31, 2017 will be included in your 2017 contribution statement.
  • Contributions made (delivered) to CityView Church on January 1 or later will be included in your 2018 contribution statement.
  • You must have records to prove you made a tax deductible contribution to CityView.
  • For individual cash or check or online contributions LESS THAN $250 you must have a bank record (cancelled check) or a receipt from CityView Church for each contribution less than $250.
  • For individual cash or check or online contributions of $250 or MORE, you must have a written receipt from CityView for each contribution.  A contribution statement from CityView listing each individual contribution satisfies this requirement.  There is no need to have a separate receipt from CityView for each contribution.
  • If you have made individual contributions to CityView of $250 or MORE, DO NOT FILE YOUR 2017 FEDERAL INCOME TAX RETURN UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE CONTRIBUTION STATEMENT FROM CityView.  CityView contribution statements for 2017 will be mailed on or before January 31, 2018.
  • If you have made or you are considering making a contribution of non-cash property (stocks, bonds, jewelry, real estate, etc) to CityView, please contact Jason Crandall, Lead Pastor, at for further information.
  • Contributions to the Building Fund should indicate “Property” fund in the memo of your check, on the envelope if giving cash, or allocated to the Property account if giving online.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. Thank you for your continued financial support of God’s mission at CityView Church to make gospel-centered disciples of Jesus and plant 100 churches in 25 years.

Christmas at CityView 2017

Christmas Offering Update – November 16

Christmas Offering Update

First, on December 10th we are going to take our very first Christmas Offering.  Our goal for this offering is to raise $25,000 towards our property fund.  We are asking for everyone to pray how God might have them participate.

Second, We’ve already received our first gifts towards the Christmas offering.  $500 has already come in.  If you won’t be there on December 10th or already know what God might have you give then you can drop a check in the offering bucket on Sunday marked “Property Fund” or by giving through our online system.

Third, a VERY generous donor has given us a great gift!  They are doing a matching donation for the first $5,000 given to the property fund.  So if you give $1, they give $1.  If you give $500, they give $500.  If you give $1000, they give $1000.

Please be praying about how you might participate in CityView’s Christmas Offering.

Struggling with Fruit… What’s the Root?

On Sunday, October 8th we kicked off our This Is Us series talking about how are fruit (sinful actions) have roots (beliefs about God).  You can watch the sermon here or Download it here.

The truth is that we all struggle with sinful fruit in our lives.  You can’t just do battle with the fruit of sin any more than you can do battle with the symptoms of a deadly infection.  The battle must be fought at the root of the problem.  In an effort to be very applicable over the next couple weeks please submit some fruit (sinful actions) that you struggle with so that we can trace it back to the root.

THIS WILL BE COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS.  We aren’t asking for ANY contact information and this will only be viewed by Pastor Jason.

“For The First Time Ever”

“For the first time ever”

That’s not a meaningless phrase.  That’s the phrase being used by the National Weather Service to describe our Flash Flood Emergency here in Houston.  There have been more than 1000 water rescues over night.  As of this morning there have been 5 people die due to flooding.  There have been between 20-30 inches of rain fall overnight. Flooding is rampant and the rain from Hurricane Harvey keeps coming.  People in the 500 year floodplain are getting dangerously close to flooding.  Please pray for Houston.

Here is some Scripture I’ve been praying this morning:

28 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! – Psalm 107:28-31

We love this city.  Here are some specifics to pray for:

  • Pray for the path of Hurricane Harvey to move.
  • Pray for the rain to stop so we can drain.
  • Pray for first responders, doctors, and nurses as they minister.
  • Pray for the poor in our area.  Most are sheltered, but there is much to deal with after this.
  • Pray for the city and surrounding areas.

Our church, CityView Church, is taking donations to help deal with immediate issues in our area. When you give, specify “Disaster Relief”, and 100% will go towards helping neighbors in our area.
